- The Pilgrims’ Train (Il Trenino del Pellegrino). This is a service created to enrich visitors’ knowledge of the places visited by Padre Pio. It connects the Sanctuary to the centre of San Giovanni Rotondo and the municipal cemetery where Padre Pio’s parents (Grazio and Giuseppa) and Maria Pyle (Padre Pio’s spiritual daughter) are buried. Maria Pyle (known as "the American" because of her origins), having abandoned the comfortable life of her home country, became a tertiary Franciscan and always lived near the friars of Pietrelcina.
- Other places in the historic town centre on the route of the Pilgrims’ Train are: the Waxwork Museum, the Church of San Nicola, the home of Mayor Francesco Morcaldi (friend and spiritual son of Padre Pio) and the Palazzo di Città, an old Franciscan friary which is now the seat of the city council.
